Course Registration

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a career readiness and college preparatory program designed to increase students’ awareness and skills for post-high school learning.  This course provides academic instruction from an AVID-trained teacher, tutoring support, study skills, curriculum enrichment, motivational skills, and organizational skills, with an emphasis on exploration of post-high school options.

• Determined to do well
• Hard worker, but grades don’t reflect effort
• Has needs that would be supported in the AVID setting (language, home, socioeconomic)
• Does well in class but scores low on state tests or iReady
• Willing to take risks
• Has a positive attitude
• Respectful of diverse ideas and personalities

• Fill out an application by 3/31:
  • English Application (Google Form)   or Paper Copy
  • Spanish Application (Google Form)   or Paper Copy 
• Turn it into Mrs. Colkitt (room #414) or the office by 3/31
• Interviews will be held on 4/3 and 4/4
• Acceptance notification by 4/7
